The Emotional Quotient Inventory is a self-report tool used to evaluate emotional and social functioning. It helps assess personal development, emotional intelligence, and emotional and social competencies.
This instrument specifically measures a collection of skills: Intrapersonal, interpersonal, stress management, adaptability, and general mood. The instrument includes a 133 question test with 5 subscales. The questions use a 5-point Likert Scale.
Validity and Reliability
Researchers and professionals have used this instrument worldwide for more than 20 years, with a database of over 1 million people tested. Various statistical analyses conducted by professionals and universities have deemed the EQ-I a valid and reliable test. The Cronbach alpha was tested across each subscale and showed an overall rating of 0.5.
